It has been a while since I have bought the miniDSP Ears to be able to play around with headphone measurements. This is not a professional device, so I can’t guarantee for the accuracy of the measurements or the device itself.

However, I can say that the measurements did match my listening experience with lots of headphones so far. It seems decently accurate even in the THD area, or at least good enough.

Having the unit for more than 4 years already, I did manage to play around with lots of headphones, so I will post the measurements here. All my headphone reviews from now on will have measurements, but I will try to keep this page up to date, so you can find all of them in the same place.

I’ve had the miniDSP Ears for a while now – it’s a device I use for taking headphone measurements. Now, it’s not a professional-grade tool, so I can’t vouch for its absolute accuracy.

That said, in my experience, it’s given me measurements that align pretty closely with what I actually hear when I listen to a wide variety of headphones. It even seems to handle total harmonic distortion (THD) reasonably well, at least well enough for my purposes.

I’ve been using this device for over four years now and have taken measurements on numerous headphones. I’ll start including these measurements in all my future headphone reviews. I’ll also make an effort to keep this page updated so you can find all these measurements conveniently in one place.

Audeze LCD-2C

I did enjoy these headphones a lot and I have owned them for quite a while. The measurements are also quite impressive.

Beyerdynamic DT880 600 ohms

These headphones can sound really impressive on a right amplifier that can properly dive them. It’s not easy to find a single ended amplifier to drive these headphones, but when you do, they punch well above their price. The only issue is with their treble peak as you will see.

Focal Bathys

I also own these headphones for more than 6 months and I love them. They are really fun, engaging, detailed, very very clean and overall, I consider them to be the best wireless headphones I have ever listened to.
The peak at 8khz is not very bothersome for some reason. Also check out the amazing looking THD.

Quad ERA-1

I enjoyed my experience with Quad Era-1 and I did own them for 2 years. They were one of the most incisive, energetic, dynamic and fun headphones on the market a few years ago.

Sennheiser HD650 Kiss Mod

I still own these headphones and I think they are quite enjoyable and scale a lot with your gear.

Meze Liric

I still own these headphones and I enjoy them a lot. One of my favorite headphones! Mini Elites!

Meze Elite

One of my favorite headphones so far! I own them happily and I consider them to provide an excellent listening experience, balancing awesome technical capabilities with a very pleasant and musical tonality. Check out the incredibly low distortion!

Meze Empyrean

Sony WH-1000XM5

I still own these headphones and use them when I need a quiet environment. They are very good for calls, meeting and music as well in loud environments. They also have an engaging sound with good prat, but a bit on the dark/bassy side. They do sound very clean and you will see this in the thd measurements as well.

Focal Clear Pro

One of my favourite focals. I did enjoy them in my collection for more than 2 years. I enjoyed their energetic/fun presentation. They also had good details and vocal presentation. They were the most natural sounding focal at that point.

Stax SR-L300

These were my first Stax headphones that I could properly test at home. I was floored by their performance. Entry level price with high end sound quality.

Hifiman HE-1000SE

These headphones are so explosive, so precise, that they can stop on a dime. This is something I am very rarely experiencing in audio, and the HE-1000SE are amazing in this regard.

I enjoy them very often and I switch between them and Meze Elite.

KLH Ultima One

These headphones bring some of the goodies of a good implementation of a full beryllium driver at a very affordably price.
